La Sound
Pirates in Panama History
Captain La Sound, in 1675 with 120 men landed on the northern coast of Darien, and with the help of a group of Darien Indians, crossed the Isthmus and attacked the town of Chepo. The Alcalde and military commander of the garrison, Sergeant Major D. Alonso de Alcaudate with the assistance of the local militia and inhabitants were able to repulse the attack to save the town. |
